Training: Veteran Status as a Social Determinant of Health

Please join NYLAG Staff Attorney, Jacqueline Condon, who staffs the Northport VA Clinic and is an expert in VA benefits as well as income and housing issues vets often experience.

This trainings aims to:

  • Provide an understanding of how veteran status is a social determinant of health.

  • Review what benefits certain veterans qualify for and how this impacts health

  • Discuss the importance of discharge status and identify when discharge upgrades are possible

  • Identify income maximization tools and housing programs for eligible veterans

The intended audience for this training is: Case/Care Managers or Coordinators, Community Health Workers/Patient Navigators, Social Worker Clinicians - RN, MD, etc., Housing Specialist, Program Coordinators/Managers, and Program Directors. Other roles are of course welcome to attend!
