People experiencing homelessness who use substances encounter various challenges when interacting with healthcare and homeless services systems. At this teach-in event, a panel of individuals with lived experience of homelessness and substance use will share their perspectives with healthcare professionals, trainees, and other interested audience members. Panelists will discuss barriers and opportunities to accessing healthcare and treatment services, as well as what meaningful support looks like from providers and systems. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between homelessness and substance use, and how healthcare providers can better support individuals navigating these experiences.
This event is being co-organized by the Health x Housing Lab at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and The Health & Housing Consortium.
