Training: Basics of Hepatitis C

Register

Hepatitis C is caused by a virus that can damage the liver, leading to cirrhosis, liver failure, and even liver cancer. People who share equipment to inject drugs and/or hormones and steroids are at a higher risk of infection. While there is no vaccine, important steps can be taken to minimize risk and provide a cure. Please join the team at the Hepatitis C Mentor and Support Group (HCMSG) for an introduction to the Basics of Hepatitis C. HCMSG's training will provide education on the most pertinent and up to date information regarding Hepatitis C, including:

  • A brief overview of what Hep C is and who is at risk

  • A discussion of testing and treatment options

  • How Hep C has a direct connection to substance use

  • How programs, peer networks, support systems and community services help reduce stigma
