Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can have lasting impacts on a person’s physical health, cognitive functioning, behavior, and ability to engage with services. For frontline staff working across housing, healthcare, and social services, understanding TBI is critical to providing effective, compassionate support.
This live training will introduce participants to the fundamentals of TBI, including common causes, signs and symptoms, and how brain injuries may present in day-to-day interactions. The session will explore how TBI can affect communication, memory, decision-making, and emotional regulation, and how these challenges may be misunderstood or overlooked in service settings.
Participants will also learn practical, trauma-informed strategies to better support individuals living with TBI. The training will focus on real-world application, including how to recognize potential indicators of TBI, adapt communication approaches, and create more accessible and supportive environments.
By the end of the session, attendees will have a stronger understanding of TBI and actionable tools they can use to improve engagement, reduce barriers to care, and support better outcomes for the individuals they serve.
